  • Product description

Manganese and nitrogen can replace nickel-chromium alloy nickel austenitic steel in chromium-nickel stainless steel, although many advantages, but in recent decades, due to the large number of nickel-based wear-resistant alloy steel and nickel content of less than 20% of the development and application of hot strength steel, as well as the increasing development of its chemical industry, the increasing demand for stainless steel, nickel deposits are small, concentrated in a few regions, so the global supply and demand conflict. Therefore, in many alloy industries such as stainless steel (such as large precision casting steel, alloy steel, hot strength steel, titanium alloy water glass casting, etc.), especially the lack of nickel resources in China, the general scientific research and production practice of replacing nickel with other elements. In this regard, manganese and nitrogen are replaced by nickel in stainless steel and wear-resistant steel.

Manganese is not very effective in improving the corrosion resistance of steel. For example, the magnesium content in steel from 0% to 10.4% will not significantly change the corrosion resistance of steel in gases and acids. This is because manganese has little effect on improving the electrode power of iron-based ionic crystals and the protective effect of oxide films is relatively low. Therefore, although there are austenitic steels (such as 40) alloyed with manganese Mn18Cr4,50Mn18Cr4WN, ZGMn13 steel, etc., but can not be used as stainless steel.

The role of manganese in steel to stabilize austenite is about one-half of nickel, that is, 2% of the role of nitrogen in steel is also to stabilize austenite, and its level of action is greater than that of nickel. For example, low-nickel stainless steel and meta-nickel 8% chromium steel at room temperature to obtain austenite organization, low-nickel stainless steel and meta-nickel chromium manganese nitrogen not induced steel with manganese and nitrogen instead of nickel, they have been used in industrial investment casting technology, some have successfully replaced the traditional 18-8 chromium-nickel stainless steel.
