Gray cast iron is a kind of cast iron containing lumpy graphite, and its production accounts for more than 80% of the total output of cast iron. Gray cast iron material is 3-4 times of its own compressive strength, with lower overall mechanical properties and greater tensile strength. Commonly used in the manufacture of the seat to withstand vibration, vibration dissipation capacity is 10 times greater than steel. Spherical water glass casting elastic mold is lower, and its thickness has a greater impact on the elastic mold is lower.
Due to the sensitivity to cooling rate, gray cast iron castings in thin sections often appear white mouth iron and cracks, but also often in thick sections caused by glazing loose. Therefore, there is a critical point in the thickness of the cross-section of gray cast iron parts. If this value is exceeded, its strength, vibration capacity, elastic mold and other mechanical properties do not increase with thickness, but are significantly weakened.
Compared to cast steel materials, gray cast iron is selected to obtain thinner, thinner, and more complex geometry castings with less residual thermal stress and shrinkage shape in the casting. Gray cast iron is often used to make castings with strong provisions, because it has more uniform properties in all sections. Spherical graphite is a high toughness cast iron material developed in the middle of the last century, spherical overlay sand casting through gray cast iron solution and its breeding solution to obtain spherical graphite, called ductile iron cast iron, high comprehensive performance, close to steel, in the industry has been widely used.
